China-Italy Design and Innovation Center work conference held at the Milan Triennale Design Museum

    China-Italy Design and Innovation Center (CIDIC) work conference is held at the Milan Triennale Museum on the morning of April 24, 2013.

 

    Professor Fang Shouen, deputy party secretary of Tongji University, Chairman of the CIDIC; Mr. Zhao Xiangdong from Consulate General of the Technology and Education and Culture in Milan, Mr. Mario Dal Co from the Italian National Agency of digitization, Professor Luisa Bocchietto, Dean of the Italian Industrial Design Association, Professor Giuliano Noci, Vice-President of the Polytechnic University of Milan, Professor Arturo Dell'Acqua Bellavitis, Dean of the School of Design of the Polytechnic University of Milan, President of the Milan Triennial Design Museum, Andrea Cancellato, General Manager of the Milan Triennial Design Museum and representatives from Tongji University, Hunan Industrial Design Association attended the meeting.

 

    Prof. Fang Shouen, Deputy Secretary of Tongji, talked about the progress of of CIDIC in the recent year, including the establishment of the CIDIC's charter, the completion of the Secretariat Office in Shanghai and the commencement of “Sino-Italian collaborative research on the key technology of multinational digital co-design”, approved and funded by China's Ministry of Science and Technology. He along with the participating members considered and modified the CIDIC charter.

 

    Consul General Zhao Xiangdong stressed the role of government’ guidance and support in CIDIC, hoping CIDIC to organize the exhibition which could demonstrate the highest level of the two countries’ cooperation; Chinese and Italian government could give financial support in research projects in the field of design creativity; strengthen high-level designers exchanges, so that Chinese designers could participate in the design projects in Europe.

 

    At the meeting, representatives of member units expressed their opinions and ideas on CIDIC’s operation and specific activities. The Chinese and Italian jointly agreed to elect Arturo Dell'Acqua Bellavitis, Dean of the School of Design, Polytechnic University of Milan, President of the Milan Triennale, as the next chairman.

 

    After the meeting, the Italian and Chinese sides signed the "the CIDIC Charter”, which will be reported to the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Italian Department of Research for audit.
