Opening Ceremony of Secretariat of China-Italy Design and Innovation Center

The synergy between Italian design and Chinese innovation reinforces the exchange and development in science and technology, education, economy and culture. The opening of Secretariat of China-Italy Design and Innovation Center (CIDIC) brings new opportunities.

On July 29th, the Secretariat of China-Italy Design and Innovation Center is officially inaugurated in Room. 1502, Tongji Building A. Vice President of Tongji University Prof. Fang Shouen, Consul of Italy in Shanghai Eugenia Palagi, Vice Rector of Politecnico di Milano Prof. Giuliano Noci,Italian Trade Commissioner Shanghai Claudio Pasqualucci, Director of Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai Carlo Molina,representatives from Chinese and Italian enterprises, designers, professors and students from Tong University have participated in the ceremony.

Former President of China-Italy Design and Innovation Center, Vice President of Tongji University Prof. Fang Shouen summarized the achievements of CIDIC since its foundation in Tongji University in terms of education and training, exhibition and matchmaking between enterprises and designers. Prof. Fang expressed the hope the Secretariat of CIDIC could take fully advantage of the competences and resources of Tongji University in education and scientific research and offer incubation services to technologically innovative enterprises and outstanding designers. Vice Rector of Politecnico di Milano Prof. Giuliano Noci delivered the speech afterwards and he emphasized that the two universities should strengthen their collaboration in the fields of ICT, Automotive Design, Technology System Design and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. Shenzhen Daxiang Decoration Engineering donated a scholarship for outstanding students majored in design in order to support the education and training activities of CIDIC.

Prof. Lou Yongqi, Dean of College of Design and Innovation introduced the first scientific research project of CIDIC “Sino-Italian Key Technological Studies in Digital Collaborative Design”. Students from School of Electronics and Information did a demonstration to the guests on application of interactive technology.

Prof. Fang Shouen, Prof. Giuliano Noci, Mr. Claudio Pasqualucci, Consul Eugenia Palagi and Prof. Lou Yongqi painted together the CIDIC wall which symbolizes the friendship between China and Italy and unveils the Secretariat of China-Italy Design and Innovation Center.

Established in April 2012 by Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R. China and Ministry of Education, University and Research of Republic of Italy, China-Italy Design and Innovation Center (CIDIC) is an inter-governmental R&D center and international service platform in the fields of design and innovation. The Secretariat of CIDIC is located in Tongji University in Shanghai and is in charge of the integration of different resources of two countries and the daily operation of CIDIC. Inaugurated in July 2013, the office of Secretariat of CIDIC is sponsored by Mondo Flooring (China), Bonliving Upholstery Specialist, NOVAH (Shanghai) Office System and Shenzhen Daxiang Decoration Engineering. The Secretariat will offer Chinese and Italian professors, students, enterprises and designers spaces and relevant service and assistance to organize exhibition, competition, conference and conduct scientific research and teaching activities with the aim of fostering the five principal functions of CIDIC, namely Industrial Promotion, Education, Scientific Research & Incubation, Regional Promotion, Event Platform.
